Nemocón Salt Mines and Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral from Bogota

+10 photos
We begin our journey outside Bogotá in a comfortable vehicle, accompanied by a guide who will reveal the secrets of the surrounding landscapes. Our first stop is the authentic Nemocón Salt Mine. Here, we descend 80 meters to discover a universe of salt, a masterpiece of mining and engineering that has achieved great feats, including hosting the filming of the well-known movie The 33. You will walk through tunnels and be amazed by the salt crystals hanging from the ceiling, contemplating the impressive “Espejo de Agua” (Water Mirror), an underground lake that will remind you that the traditional can be surprisingly different. Then, we will head to the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá, the “First Wonder of Colombia.” 180 meters underground, you will enter a work of engineering and devotion that is unique in the world. You will walk through the 14 stations of the Way of the Cross, carved into the salt rock, until you reach the immense dome of the Cathedral.
