The Oriental Pearl Radio and Television Tower is located on the bank of the Huangpu River, backed by the Lujiazui area of modern buildings, and across the river the Bund International Architecture Expo Group, construction began on July 30, 1991, completed and put into use on October 1, 1994. It is one of the landmark buildings of Shanghai that integrates urban sightseeing, fashion catering, shopping and entertainment, historical display, Pujiang tour, exhibition performance, radio and television launch and other functions in one. As of 2019, it is the sixth tallest tower in Asia and the ninth tallest tower in the world.
