The "MAR" promotes a transversal reading of the city's history, its social fabric, its symbolic life, conflicts, contradictions, challenges and social expectations. Its exhibits combine historical and contemporary dimensions of art by means of long and short shows, nationally and internationally. The museum also appears with the mission of inscribing art in public education, through the School of Look.
As recommended by UNESCO, MAR has activities that involve collection, registration, research, preservation and return to the community of cultural goods - in the form of exhibitions, catalogs, multi-media and educational programs. With its own collection - already in the process of training through acquisitions and donations corresponding to its agenda - MAR also has loans for works from some of the best public and private collections in Brazil for the execution of its program.
