Our walk will take us around the neighbourhood of Chacarita, an area rarely visited by tourists: You will discover an alternative side of Buenos Aires, away from the trendy restaurants, tour buses and the grandiose buildings of downtown.
We will start our walk in Parque los Andes, which at the weekend transforms from a sleepy park into a bustling flea market. We will visit the antiques and collectable stools before heading over to the vintage clothes.
We will learn the story of Gauchito Gil - an Argentine folk hero. We will take a look inside a shrine and see how people pay their respect to this quasi-saint gaucho
We will make our way to Chacarita Cemetery which has a fascinating (AND SPOOKY) history. We will see the impressive tombs and mausoleums which were built during the country’s belle epoquê period.
To finish we will stop for lunch at a local pizzeria dating from 1947. We will try a couple of slices of Argentine pizza and enjoy a beer, glass of wine or a soft drink!
